News & blogs Transforming our Christmas tree field Our Christmas tree field is a beautiful, peaceful space. Home to over 20,000 Nordmann Fir Christmas trees, it is valued income stream for Enham Trust. Each year, we open our doors to the public during weekends in December for people to come along, explore the field and pick their favourite tree to take home with them for the festive season. All funds raised from the sales days go directly towards our cause – supporting disabled people to live, work and enjoy life. There were areas of our Christmas tree field that were in need of some love and renovation. Whilst addressing these factors, it was also really important to us that we improved the overall accessibility of the space. Through our partnership with Kier Group, we were introduced to the South East Highways Alliance Board. In early 2025, we presented the Board with a variety of projects that we were looking for support with across the charity. The network of leading construction companies were really interested in our Christmas tree field project and it’s potential for transformation. Feeling that this project was best aligned to the skills and expertise that they could offer, we were overjoyed when they offered to give their time and resources towards the project, as well as organising a large-scale volunteering day later in the year. And so, throughout May and June, the magic happened, concluding on 18 June when we welcomed a team of over 50 volunteers from companies across the Alliance to the field. The team worked incredibly hard, on what was one of the hottest days of the year. They divided and conquered across various assignments throughout the field. The team carried out repairs and renovations, as well as installing new features for visitors to come along and enjoy. We’re incredibly proud of the refurbishment that has taken place, including: A new, accessible entrance. A temporary hard standing area for us to welcome customers and sell our range of pre-cut trees. A brand-new Christmas tree walk-though, adding another layer of fun for visitors to explore. New fencing, helping to keep the space safe and secure. New planting areas to bring year-round use of the space. Nigel Sully, Head of Gardening and Domestics at Enham Trust says: “I would like to say a very big thank you to all from the South East Highways Alliance Board, for giving their time and resources to help make our Christmas tree field a more accessible space that will enable more local people to come and enjoy what we have to offer.” Georgina Dawes, Head of Fundraising at Enham Trust says: “The transformation of our Christmas tree field into a more accessible and welcoming space has not only opened up new opportunities for disabled people to enjoy and engage with the space, but also strengthened a vital income stream that directly supports our mission. Every tree sold helps us continue our work to enable disabled people to live, work and enjoy life — a huge thank you for the incredible support from the South East Highways Alliance Board.” This project and the remarkable pace that it was delivered would not have been possible without the phenomenal support of South East Alliance Highways Alliance. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank them for everything they have done for Enham Trust. Their support has helped to transform our Christmas tree field into a more accessible space for disabled people to enjoy. Mia Christopher, Stakeholder Customer Manager of Jackson Civil Engineering, part of the South East Highways Alliance Board said: “This project is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with purpose and a shared commitment to community. Working alongside Enham Trust to improve accessibility for disabled users has been truly inspiring, showing how collaboration can create meaningful, long-lasting change.” We look forward to opening our gates to the new and improved Christmas tree field on 30 November, for the first of our ‘Pick Your Own’ Christmas tree sales weekends this year.
